The Persistence of Character
Résumé
This collection of essays reflects the reaffirmed interest within literary criticism in perspectives on character as an evident cornerstone of fiction (and indeed of other writing) but one that for a number of years had fallen oddly out of regard, especially within some areas of literary theory. Bringing together articles on works drawn variously from contemporary Anglophone literary and popular fiction as well as media productions (film, TV series, digital games), the collection exemplifies this renewed “reassessment of character in literary studies” (Anderson et al. 1) and the diverse approaches and readings it enables.
