"Across, by" et "through". Considérations sur les conditions de représentation métalinguistique des prépositions
Résumé
This paper attempts to show that a representation based exclusively on extralinguistic spatial properties cannot hope to account for all the different meanings of prepositional phrases. This can only be achieved through a much more abstract metalinguistic representation, formulated in terms of mental rather than spatial topology, as is demonstrated through the analysis of three prepositions, namely across, by and through.
