Enhancement of spatial resolution using metamaterial sensor in NonDestructive evaluation

Résumé

This paper presents a possibility to enhance the spatial resolution of eNDE methods that operate in radiofrequency and high frequency range using a sensor with metamaterial lens that can manipulate the evanescent waves that appear in the space between strips and respective, carbon fibers. Also, interruptions, short-cuts of MSG as well as nonalignment of carbon fibers, lack of resin or voids, and delaminations induced by impacts with low energy can be detected and emphasized. © 2016 Taylor and Francis Group, London.
