Résumé
The article deals with the archaeological context of the find of a small stone small icon depicting Sts. Joachim and Anna. The object was discovered at the settlement 1 of the Ratsky
archaeological complex in 2019. The archaeological dating of the icon confirms stylistics and paleography observations. The rock that was used as row materials is preliminary indentified as serpentinite. The survey of the veneration and iconography of the saints in Eastern Europe is proposed. The authors advance a hypothesis that the small stone icon followed an example of a painted wooden icon of big size, characterize special features of the religious life of residents of the Ratsky complex, and emphasize their close ties with the art and culture of medieval Kiev in the beginning of the 13th century.
