Nonlinear control of dissolved oxygen level for Pseudomonas putida bacterium fermentation

Abstract

In this paper, the control of dissolved oxygen during a fermentation process is considered. A nonlinear control law inspired by the backstepping technique is proposed and the stability of the control scheme is proved. Two extensions of the algorithm are proposed to include a feed-forward action and to solve the problem induced by sampled oxygen measurements. Performances of the proposed algorithms are evaluated in simulation and on an experimental bench for Pseudomonas putida bacterium fermentation.
